Working Hours Part time, 16 hours per week. About PalmPro PalmPro is developing AI-designed novel enzyme solutions for the vegetable oil processing industry, enabling industrial mills to extract more oil from their existing process. Our mission is to make oil production more efficient and sustainable, starting with palm oil and expanding across global vegetable oil markets. This role is an opportunity to build something technically meaningful with direct commercial and environmental impact. About The Role We are looking for a student assistant to support hands-on wet lab work. You will work directly with Ruth Ogbevire, with visibility to the other members of the founding team and the opportunity to contribute to work that feeds directly into our proof of concept dataset. What You Will Be Doing ● Supporting gene cloning and transformation workflows ● Assisting with recombinant protein expression in S. cerevisiae and downstream purification ● Running enzyme activity assays and biochemical characterisation at varying temperature and pH ● Supporting SDS-PAGE verification and protein quantification ● Maintaining accurate, reproducible lab records and contributing to protocol documentation Requirements ● Currently enrolled in a BSc (final year) or MSc in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, or a closely related field. ● Hands-on experience in a molecular biology or biochemistry wet lab setting ● Familiarity with standard techniques: PCR, gel electrophoresis, aseptic technique, pipetting accuracy ● Exposure to protein purification techniques Nice to Have ● Experience with yeast (S. cerevisiae) or other eukaryotic expression systems ● Familiarity with enzyme kinetics and activity assays ● Familiarity with analytical chemistry techniques (HPLC, LC-MS, or GC-MS) ● Previously interned at an academic research group or industrial laboratory What We Offer ● A small team where your work has direct and visible impact How to Apply Send your CV to r.ogbevire@biotech-rwth.aachen.de .
