In a 120-minute tech transfer workshop by YPOG, startups, researchers, and innovators will learn how to take legal hurdles between research and commercial success!

The workshop will give an introduction to Intellectual Property (IP) law. In particular, we will have a look at the different types of IP rights there are and how ownership and licensing of these IP rights work. The workshop will then cover the legal 1-0-1 of IP strategy with a particular focus on patents as well as on copyrights and software.

In the next step, we will dive into the fundamentals of technology transfer and R&D cooperation agreements. How does a university spin-off work and what are the options to ensure that the IP generated within the university can be fully commercialized by the newly founded start-up? What does a VC investor look out for in the IP setup of a start-up? How does Venture Clienting work with regards to IP rights? And finally, what needs to be kept in mind when entering into proof-of-concept or R&D cooperations with corporate customers? All of the above is essential knowledge to successfully negotiate technology license agreements.
